In a heartbreaking turn of events, 19-year-old Jac Sexton’s battle with a brain tumor began with what seemed like a simple ear infection.

A Misleading Diagnosis

In October 2024, Jac, a budding hairdresser from South Wales, started experiencing dizziness, double vision, and slurred speech. After visiting a doctor, he was diagnosed with an ear infection linked to a recent bout of glandular fever. However, Jac’s condition was far more serious. Later, he learned that these symptoms were actually caused by a high-grade glioblastoma, an aggressive brain tumor.

The Harsh Reality

Despite undergoing six weeks of radiotherapy, Jac’s condition worsened. Due to the tumor’s size and location on the brain stem, he couldn’t receive traditional chemotherapy. In January, Jac suffered a near-fatal collapse at home, leading to emergency brain tumor surgery. Sadly, he passed away on February 25, 2025.

A Brave Fight and Family Support

Jac’s uncle, Rhydian Sexton, spoke about his nephew’s remarkable character, even in the face of immense challenges. “Jac touched so many people in the last few months,” he shared.

The family remained united, offering love and laughter during his final weeks. Rhydian also expressed his gratitude for the NHS, especially the dedicated team at Noah’s Arc Cancer Centre.

A GoFundMe page set up to support Jac’s treatment exceeded expectations, raising over £13,000 to aid his journey.
